Hi Team
It's been a while, I have a hell of a month with lots going on! I have had to study for an exam, take the exam, get the results for the exam, Submit work for an NVQ, Help organise a conference and host part of that 190 attendee conference. With a few other things going on as well.
So where do I start?
About 6 months ago, I was frustrated that I couldn't apply for a new role in my organisation as I hadn't passed the exam needed. I had taken the exam twice previously and failed. That was 6 years ago.
I then had a chat to someone about how frustrating it was that I couldn't apply for the job as I believe I have all the qualities and knowledge to do the job well, and explained that I hadnt passed the exam.
He said three words for me.
"Woulda...Coulda...Shoulda..."
That just pissed me off...
Why? because he was right, I hadn't tried in 6 years, I wouldn't even call my first 2 attempts trying either, it was half arsed attempts.
So I went to work, I dusted off the books, I watched videos and learned what was needed from me in the exam. I learned not just what I needed to, I learned how the questions would be asked, the structure, the techniques to survive the 3 hours exam.
10 days later... I found out I passed the exam! Shame the role that I wanted has been filled by someone else. But hey! I did it and I learned...
The same could be said in any fitness journey or fat loss journey or muscle building journey.
There are coaches, books, techniques, structures you need to learn and follow. Once you have the right motivation and commitment. The rest is up to you.... nobody else.
You.
Im saying to you.
Coulda... woulda... shoulda....
Now... what are you going to do?
What are your workouts?
Man, this month has been tough on the workouts and the eating! you know, studying and reading makes it easier to snack!
There are few things I have learned.
To help with snacking it is good for me to have a glass of water and a protein shake first thing in the morning.
Then I fast until around 12 o clock only drinking black coffee, water and tea.
I then eat meals up until around 1900hrs
I am currently trying to eat 2198 calories - sometimes I'm higher, sometimes I'm lower... its just a ball park figure.
I get that from this calorie formula.
Goal weight in pounds (lbs) x 13.5 = Daily calorie intake.
Its a formula that has worked for me for a fews and the fasting just works more me too...
People are different, with different lifestyles, responsibilities and habits - fasting may not work for you.
But, the calorie formula will.
Just make sure you track what you are eating!

My workouts are still going 3 days a week of strength work - 20 to 30 mins - Mondays, Wednesdays - Fridays from my workout programme Chisled Armour

I play football on a Wednesday when I can and I try and go for a 30 - 40 mins walk everyday.
That's it.
I also will do around 10 mins of workout in the bootcamp I coach, the team there do all the hard work and I just drink coffee and tell bad jokes!
Occasionally I'll do some of the work with them but I'm telling you the 10 mins I do particpate in is a killer!
It's a pretty good bootcamp!
Come along and join the team!

What are you listening to?
I have had a great year for going to gigs this year. This month I saw my all time favourite band Counting Crows.... It's amazing to look at the crowd and go...
"wow the fans for this band are old!.... I feel so out of place..." Then realise that Im now 40 and actually everyone is around my age or around 5 years plus or minus! I just remember when all us fans were in our 20s at gigs!
Last week, My wife and I went to see my newest favourite band and I honestly think they have knocked The Boss, and Counting Crows off top spot.
The Red Clay Strays are the best live band I have seen.... I do think they are now my favourite band ever.
You must check them out!
Their song "Wondering Why" was our wedding song - it was also my better halfs first time seeng them live and I think I have converted her to rock n' roll / country music.
Wondering Why - The Red Clay Strays
Drowning - The Red Clay Strays
Hopefully we are back to regular posting blogs again!
